Track 01: Qui est le Doctor Oui?
Hi. I’m Dr. Jaya McSharma.
And this is the part where I’m supposed to introduce myself like I’m on Oprah’s couch.
So I’m gonna keep it real with you—just like I would with my girl O.
I never wanted to be a doctor.
That was actually the first line of my residency application.
My program director, Dr. Michael Harper, even read it aloud at my graduation. (Legend.)
I became a doctor because I didn’t know how to bear disapproval.
I kept doing what I was told.
I kept checking the boxes.
But deep down, I was suffocating in a system that had no idea what healing meant.
As I’ve gone on this lifelong journey of unlearning and re-learning,
of finally becoming myself again…
I’ve come to willingly carry the title of healer.
Because I know what it means.
And I’ve earned it.
Med school was hard.
But taking care of people inside broken systems?
So much harder.
I’ve had to argue with insurance companies over whether an 87-year-old woman with pneumonia deserved one more night in the hospital.
I’ve had to spell out the name of a life-saving medication—Vancomycin—to a rep who’d never heard of it…
while they decided whether or not to approve it.
That’s who was deciding my patients’ care?
So I left.
I broke out.
And I built a space where real healing could happen.
Where the goal is that one day you don’t need us anymore—because you got better.
Welcome to The Oui Doctor.
(Not the OO-ey doctor. Not the owie doctor. It’s Oui—like the French word for yes.)
As in:
“Doctor, do you want this patient to have the care she needs?”
Oui.
“Doctor, do you believe in plants before pills?”
Oui.
“Doctor, are you exhausted from being a woman in America who feels like everything’s crashing down on her, and she just wants to be a good mom and partner and maybe also a supermodel who adopts all the rescue animals so none of them are ever euthanized—
but she’s in pajamas watching Murder, She Wrote for the twelfth straight hour because her nervous system is just… done?”
Yes is a complete sentence.
Yes to rest.
Yes to help.
Yes to joy.
Yes to not doing it all alone anymore.
Because that’s what we deserve.
And what we’ve been denied.
The Oui Doctor isn’t just a place.
It’s a culture. A vibe. A reclamation.
It’s what happens when you take every bit of authenticity and weirdness and intuition the world told you to repress—
and decide to use it as fuel instead.
We don’t just treat symptoms here.
We treat stories.
And your story is welcome.
Whether you’re a new mom whose brain has left the group chat…
Or someone whose doctor said “your labs look fine” but you feel like a walking fog bank…
Or you’re just so tired of trying so hard all the time—and getting nowhere…
You’re not crazy.
You’re not lazy.
You’re not broken.
You’re just… not supported. Yet.
This isn’t a one-woman show.
The Oui Doctor is a team—a culture—of providers who are trained to treat you like a whole human.
Not a diagnosis. Not a case number. A person.
Healing is communal, And you were never meant to do it alone.
So QUI EST LE DOCTOR OUI?
It’s a movement.
And this right here?
This is your invitation.
Welcome to The Oui Doctor.
